Upper Slopes Community Based Resource Management

Due to the worsening security
situation it was not possible to significantly advance this
component of the workplan. What work was completed served to
further demonstrate the need for specific and tailored approaches
to community forestry and livelihoods improvement in these fragile
areas. Handover support will encourage the line departments
to further investigate the special needs of the communities
in these areas, and to develop appropriate methodologies for
ensuring that community resources are not further damaged by
over exploitation and lack of knowledge as a basis for scientific
management of upper slopes oak forests.
